THE WORKPLACE BEHIND PERFORMANCE

01OBSERVE

The employee area had practical maintenance problems, weak use of space, limited privacy and a neglected appearance. At the same time, information employees needed about HR resources, internal systems, instructions and organisational structure was not presented through one clear workplace reference point.

02UNDERSTAND

The issue was both physical and informational. The environment communicated how employee space was valued, while fragmented internal information made routine access to organisational resources less straightforward than necessary. The project needed to produce a useful result without a major capital programme, relying instead on repair, reuse, careful layout and targeted additions.

03IMPROVE

Maintenance issues were coordinated, existing resources were reused, layout and privacy were improved and low-cost additions were selected only where they materially improved the space. A central employee-information area was also created to bring together HR information, employee-portal access, instructions, management and venue hierarchy and other practical organisational references.

04ADVANCE

The redesigned area was delivered as a contained, low-cost intervention. It improved workplace function and privacy while making important employee information easier to access through one visible point.

OUTCOME

ROOT FINDING

A neglected employee environment combined physical limitations with fragmented access to practical organisational information.

RESPONSE

Repair, reuse, layout and privacy improvements were combined with a central employee-information resource.

RESULT

The area became more functional and employee-oriented without requiring a major capital programme, while common HR and organisational information became easier to find.
